Spoelstra: It was great to be an assistant coach to Cole for two years. All of us grew from it.

Talking about taking over the position of Cole's US men's basketball coach, Spoelstra said: "I have said before that I am very grateful to be able to work under him for two summers. The whole team had a great time, which was a life experience and a basic basketball lesson. All of us grew from it, especially in terms of basketball coaching development. Although it is also the same four lines, two A basket and a basketball, but FIBA games are different sports. We learned lessons in the first year, and in the second year, the experience of the previous summer helped us prepare for the Olympics better."

The U.S. men's basketball team finished fourth at the 2023 Basketball World Cup and won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, both times with Kerr as the coach and Spoelstra as an assistant.
