Too bad! Thompson went crazy! The 4-time crown marksman fell off a cliff
Unhappy, very unhappy. After the recent 110-122 loss to the Pistons by the Mavericks, Thompson vented his dissatisfaction by flying a water bottle. He played for about 20 minutes and scored 11 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist, with a plus-minus of -21. He made 4 of 9 shots (3 of 7 three-pointers). So far this season, Thompson is in extremely bad form. He has scored single-digit points in three of the six games. He averaged 20.7 minutes per game and only contributed 8.7 points, 3 rebounds and 1.3 assists. His two shooting percentages were 33.3% and 29.4%. Many statistics are career lows. The 35-year-old Thompson is no longer as brave as he once was...but his experience of four championships is still quite precious to the Mavericks. It is worth mentioning that the US media BasketNews recently posted heartbreaking comparative data, as follows: So far this season, Lakers star Doncic averages 45.3 points per game, while Thompson (8.7 points) + Big Eyebrow (20.8 points) + Flagg (13.8 points) only average 43.3 points per game in total. In February of this year, the NBA had a universe-level 3-team, 6-player trade. The details are as follows: The Mavericks received Big Eyebrows + Christie + a 2029 first-round pick (from the Lakers) + US$55,000 (from the Jazz); The Lakers get Doncic + Kleber + Morris + $55,000 (from the Jazz); The Jazz get Schiffino + a 25-year second-round pick (from the Clippers) + a 25-year second-round pick (from the Mavericks). In this three-party transaction, who made the profit, the Mavericks or the Lakers? At least for now, it is obvious that the Purple and Gold Army has obtained the league's best ball-handling core who is only 26 years old, the cornerstone of the team's team building and box office guarantee for many years to come. In fact, to a certain extent, Doncic also has to thank the Mavericks for the trade. In order to prove that his old club's decision was wrong, he used enough determination to force himself to lose weight this summer, and then played an epic performance this season, winning back the love of the world. The reason why Thompson's performance is poor this season is also related to the fact that today's Mavericks do not have a passing master like Doncic. The former still needs to eat comfortably to maximize his personal value. What do the Mavericks think about letting Doncic go?
