Syracuse defender once again proves Nessoda s draft vision, looking back at his career.
In the 2009 NBA Draft, sophomore guard Joni Flynn from Syracuse University was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 6th pick in the first round. Before the start of the summer league, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced that they had officially signed Joni Flynn with a three-year, $9.57 million rookie contract, with the third year of the contract being the team option. Since then, Joni Flynn has started his NBA career. In the 2009-2010 season, Jonny Flynn, who had just entered the league, was valued by the Timberwolves coaching staff. As the starting point guard of the team, he ranked third in the team in the average playing time and average score per game, and reached the highest level of his personal career. In that season, Jonny Flynn represented the Timberwolves in 81 regular season games, all starting games, and averaged 28.9 minutes per game to contribute 13.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1 steal. After the regular season, Jonny Flynn was selected for the second team of the All-Rookie Team, and the Timberwolves ranked at the bottom of the West with 15 wins and 67 losses. On November 1, 2010, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced the team's execution of the 2011-2012 team option worth $3.4 million in the 2011-2012 season. In the 2010-2011 season, Jonny Flynn played as a substitute for Lucredno. His average playing time and data per game declined significantly compared to last season. In that season, Jonny Flynn played 53 regular season games for the Timberwolves, including 8 starts, and averaged 18.1 minutes per game to contribute 5.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists. The Timberwolves ranked last in the league with 17 wins and 65 losses. On June 24, 2011, the Minnesota Timberwolves traded Jonny Flynn and No. 20 pick Donattas Mortier Euenas to the Houston Rockets, and obtained the signing rights of Brad Miller and Nikola Mirotic, the No. 38 pick in the 2011 draft, and the first round pick in 2013. In the 2011-2012 season, Jonny Flynn played as Golandardlacic's third substitute. Because the Rockets' point guard position has Kyle Lowry, Terrence Williams and others, Jonny Flynn became the marginal player of the team and usually can only play in games with the score. In this season, Jonny Flynn played 11 regular season games for the Rockets, all of which played as a substitute, averaged 3.4 points and 2.5 assists per 12.3 minutes per game. In the mid-season, the Rockets' management chose to trade Jonny Flynn. On March 15, 2012, the Houston Rockets traded Jonny Flynn, Hashem Tabitt, and the 2012 second round pick to the Portland Trail Blazers, and received Marcus Camby and part of the cash. After coming to the Trail Blazers, Jonny Flynn played as a substitute for Raymond Felton and became one of the team's important substitutes. This season, Jonny Flynn played 18 regular season games for the Trail Blazers, one of which started, averaged 5.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. The Trail Blazers ranked 11th in the Western Conference with 28 wins and 38 losses, and missed the playoffs. Jonny Flynn during the Trail Blazers On September 24, 2012, the Detroit Pistons announced that they had signed Jonny Flynn for a one-year, $880,000 non-guaranteed training camp contract. On October 22, 2012, the Detroit Pistons announced that the team had officially given up Jonny Flynn, and Jonny Flynn, who became a free agent, never received an NBA contract. On November 5, 2012, Jonny Flynn signed with the Melbourne Tigers in Australia to continue his career. In the following seasons, Jonny Flynn played in the CBA League and the Italian League, but he never received the NBA team's signing contract. Since then, this confident and fast scoring point guard completely left the NBA arena.
