Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul reportedly want to go to the Suns
According to Gautam Varyl, senior contributor of US sports media F/W. After a disastrous 2024-25 season, the Phoenix Suns are expected to look very different in the 2025-26 season, with their 36-46 record in the Western Conference. Despite the somewhat confusing situation for the Suns, Jersey insider Flex reported that Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul wanted to join the team. "This is not what I guess, this is not the smoke bomb I throw at everyone. CP3 and Westbrook are both people who are likely to join this team. Westbrook has been trying to go to Phoenix for 3 years." Westbrook played for the Denver Nuggets this season, averaging 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. Like his case, there are some great climaxes, but there are also some horrible lows. Apart from this inconsistency, there are some complaints about Westbrook being a little troublesome in the locker room. You wonder if the 9-time All-Star will return to the Nuggets next season, and he doesn’t seem to be. NBA insider Markstan reported that Westbrook would reject his $3.5 million player option to enter free agents. Will the former MVP choose the Suns as his next landing site? There is another question whether the Suns want Westbrook and we may get the answer soon. As for Paul, he adapted to the Spurs in the 2024-25 season, averaging 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.4 blocks per game. While the veteran had a great season and had no reports of any dissatisfaction, Stan reported that he expected to leave the Spurs. Paul hints that he wants to play for a team in Los Angeles so he can get closer to his family. Phoenix is not far away, though, and he did have a great time with the Suns. Paul played for the Suns from 2020-21 to 2022-23, averaging 15.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 9.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.3 blocks per game. He helped them reach the NBA Finals in 2021 and then won a record 64 games in the 2021-22 season. Although Paul is far from the player he was back then, he will become a reliable backup for the Suns. You do think he would be better off going to the Los Angeles Lakers, though, because they have a better chance of competing for the championship than the Suns. Neither Westbrook nor Paul won the championship in their careers, a big hole in their resume. As both of their NBA careers get closer to the end, you’ll want to see them appear on a competitive team. The Suns were a contender during Paul’s time, but the team is now finding nothing. As long as Booker is there, you won't expect them to bottom out, but it's hard to see how they'll get close to winning the championship in the next few years. What do you think? I hope that the two future Hall of Fame players will wear which team jersey will appear on the field next season? Let’s talk about your opinion in the comment section.
