AS: Sevilla is facing financial pressure and urgently needs Barcelona to pay the 24.5 million Okonde transfer fee
On October 23, the Western media "As" reported that Sevilla is facing financial pressure and urgently needs Barcelona to pay 24.5 million Okonde transfer fee. Sevilla is still the lowest in La Liga due to salary cap restrictions (only slightly more than 22 million euros). The club urgently needs to ease its financial situation to achieve breakeven and resume normal signings. Sporting director Antonio Cordo has had to strengthen the squad in the transfer market only through loans and free agents. In addition, Sevilla was forced to sell two core players: Luke Bacchio and Badet. Lukbakio moved to Benfica for about 20 million euros, while Badé joined Bayer Leverkusen for 25 million euros. Revenue from both deals was well below expectations. It is worth mentioning that Conde’s transfer fee may exceed the sum of Lukebacchio and Badet. Barcelona promised to pay a basic transfer fee of 50 million euros plus a floating bonus of 12.5 million euros, of which 7.5 million euros have been cashed. However, Barca have only paid just over half of that fee so far. After playing for Barcelona for three years and extending his contract until 2030, the club still owes Sevilla 24.5 million euros. If Conde plays more than half of the games in the next two seasons, an additional 5 million euros will be paid. A total of nearly 30 million euros will flow into Sevilla's account. This amount of money is almost equivalent to another transfer income for Sevilla. The club hopes to add value to young players such as Vargas, Carmona, Akol-Adams, and Agume. Agume, in particular, has strong interest from Premier League teams and may even sell him in January next year.
