Official: Before all matches in Argentina, mourning will be held for the Boca coach who passed away recently

On October 9, according to an announcement released by the Argentine Football Association’s official website, before all domestic games in the country, the country will mourn the recent death of Boca coach Russo.

Boca Juniors has never disclosed Russo's specific health details, but Argentine media reported that the coach, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, recently contracted a urinary tract infection. Russo's last live game against Boca Juniors was on September 21. During Russo's absence, his assistant Claudio Ubeda has been taking charge of the team.

The Argentine Football Association wrote in its announcement:

Today, with great sadness, we learned the sad news of Mr. Russo’s passing away. He was a model of professionalism. No matter what position he held or every moment of his daily work, he always went all out to do his best. Sadly for all of us who were lucky enough to know him, we have lost an incredibly good man and a dear friend. To express its condolences, the Argentine Football Association will observe a minute's silence before all matches held from tomorrow to October 12.

Dear Russo, Argentine Football bids farewell to you with deep sadness.
