Moyes: We have highlights but not enough to win the game; we don t understand the final 3 minutes of penalty

Hupu reported on September 20 that in the Premier League, Everton lost to Liverpool 1-2. After the game, Everton coach David Moyes was interviewed by TNT Sports.

David, your team showed great fighting spirit and tried hard to win back the game, but in the end it was still unable to take away the points. What do you think of this game?

I think your question may have been answered. We did not do well in many aspects in the first half, but there was a lot of improvement in the second half, but it may have widened the gap from the beginning. But we have to be sure that the players have never given up and have not completely lost the suspense of the game. When we chased the score to 2-1, we actually had a chance to reverse.

Overall, we have highlights, but today is not enough to win the game.

You said before the game that if you want to score points here, the key is to seize the few opportunities - and today there seems to be too few opportunities like this.

Yes, there are really not enough opportunities. But to be honest, I don't think Liverpool's chances are too widespread. They only had two or three chances, not much more than us. But they are more efficient when seizing opportunities, and we are a little bit less interesting. In the offensive zone 3, their decisions are more decisive.

But seriously, it is not easy for them to come here to compete, let alone us.

Liverpool has been "leading and tied" recently. Have you always believed that you can gain something from this game?

I think the more important thing is whether we can play better than in the first half. In the first half, we were completely ineligible, we had to make changes and we had to respond - and I think we did it in the second half. Tactically, we adjusted some parts and the effect was also revealed.

So this is thanks to the players' performance in the second half. They were serious about the game and showed the resilience we should have in critical moments, but in the end it was a little bit worse.

Before the game, you mentioned that the penalty for such competitions seems to be on your side. Is this still the same feeling today?

I have experienced it here too many times. I don't want to be like an old stubborn person who goes over and over again every time, but the last 3 minutes of the second half really puzzled me. We want to kick off quickly, I have seen countless teams score with quick free kicks, but today we can't get up at all because we have to wait for the referee to blow the whistle before the kick off.

I think some of the punishments are too strange. However, we have long been used to the situation here, and I think everyone knows it - especially everyone related to Everton.

Despite losing today, Everton still has a lot of positive start to the season, which can provide impetus for the next game.

fully agree. We saw our potential and I know that this game was probably one of the toughest away games we had in the whole season.

So we have to accept this result. But the team is indeed developing in a good direction. We have played a lot of beautiful games, and we have won a lot of goals away from home, whether last year or this year. I hope to keep this momentum going.
