Mkhitaryan settles old scores, Mourinho once criticized him as trash

In his recently launched new autobiography, Inter Milan midfielder Mkhitaryan (Cantonese translation: Mihitaryan) said that when he was playing for Manchester United, he was called trash by the then head coach Mourinho (Morino).

Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2016, but failed to establish himself in the Manchester United team and was sent to Arsenal after only two seasons as one of the bargaining chips in exchange for forward Sanchez.

In his autobiography, Mkhitaryan recalled the unhappiness of playing for Manchester United. One of the reasons was that Mourinho did not appreciate him: "I even told him later that since I came to Manchester United, you have been criticizing me for a year and a half... He called me garbage, and I responded to him."

After the two had a falling out, what they didn't expect was that enemies would not get back together, and fate played another joke on them, allowing them to reunite again in Rome in 2021: "We hugged on the first day." After turning their feud into friendship, the two helped Roma lift the UEFA Cup trophy in the 2021/22 season: "Before the final, Mourinho plastered photos of the trophy all over the entire training center and wrote the slogan "We must win" in capital letters. These slogans were everywhere, including the locker room, corridors, kitchens, bathrooms... We were always thinking about victory when we changed clothes, and only had this goal when eating or sleeping. The result was that in the end we succeeded."

Mkhitaryan moved to Inter Milan after that season, while Mourinho coached until January 2024 and was fired by Roma. Mourinho is now the head coach of Benfica.
