September 3: 34-year-old German midfielder Gundogan has officially announced his joining Galatasaray. He also posted a farewell letter to Manchester City through social media:

Dear citizens, I want to tell you honestly... The reason for my departure is very simple: I still long to participate in as many games as possible, because this is always what I love the most. Although I am about to turn 35, I still feel in good shape and firmly believe that I can continue to contribute to high-level performance in the Champions League team.

Not only that—I now have the opportunity to join my childhood favorite club and head to a country that means a lot to me.

After experiencing a glorious era, Manchester City hopes to open a new chapter - I fully understand and respect this decision. I will never forget everything this great club has given me over the years.

Most of the time here is wonderful and full of extraordinary achievements. The club and the city of Manchester will always occupy a special place in my heart.
