According to reports, Liverpool holds talks to sign a 28-year-old forward star in Premier League Crystal Palace Club

Liverpool reportedly held talks with Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Matthatta. The Premier League forward is also a target for Manchester United, who hopes to strengthen their offense.

According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool met with Matthat's agent in Paris. The striker’s contract with Crystal Palace is their new target by 2027, after reports of their connections to Alexander Isaac of Newcastle and Hugo Ekitic of Frankfurt.

The Reds hope to introduce a striker this summer because Nunez's transfer prospects are unclear. The Uruguayan has been associated with leaving, and Naples hopes to attract him to Italy.

Matthaeta was in good shape in the Premier League last season, scoring 14 goals and assisting 2 times. The 28-year-old also scored three goals in four Carabao Cup games, but failed to score in five games in the FA Cup at Crystal Palace.

Arne Slott is working to add a striker to his team this summer, and he believes the Frenchman is the ideal candidate. Mattha wanted to leave Selhurst Park last summer, but the Hawks blocked his transfer because they wanted to keep their top players. He talked about the decision and admitted that he accepted it, and told The Team (via Bein Sports):

"I am a realistic person: the club doesn't want to sell me. I will keep moving forward and I will do my best to make the team better than last year. When we need to ask ourselves these questions (about the future), we will ask ourselves. In football, you have to adapt quickly and focus on the upcoming deadlines, not stay in the past."

Liverpool relied on Salah to score 29 goals in the Premier League last season, with Diaz and Cody Gap scoring 13 and 10 goals respectively. Darwin Nunez scored only five goals, just like midfielder Alexis Mike Alister, while Diogo Yota, who died tragically earlier this month, scored six goals for Liverpool last season.

Paul Mason urged Manchester United to sign Liverpool's goal

Earlier this year, Paul Mason urged Manchester United to sign Jean-Philippe Mattha at Sky Sports. He claims Liverpool is the ideal target for Amorim because Amorim is better than the rest of the club, he said (via MEN):

"Manchester United should get Matteta, which is what they need. He is a strong lad on the front line, at the top of his game, he leads the front line, scoring goals. He runs and works harder than anyone you know. But they won't, because he plays at the palace. Everyone asks: 'What do you buy him for?' But he's 100 times better than anyone on the front line. Not Amard, he's still a young man, but he's much better than Hoylund and Zilkze now."

After two blows, Manchester United is looking for a striker in the transfer market. They were interested in Drep, but the striker chose to join Chelsea, and there were reports that they were interested in Victor Yorkers, who has now reached a deal with Arsenal.
