Wolfsburg official: Danish legendary midfielder Eriksen joins and signs until 2027

Hupu September 10th, Bundesliga team Wolfsburg officially announced that it would sign Eriksen, the Danish national team's record-holder. The 33-year-old midfielder left Manchester United after his contract expired this summer, joining Wolfburg as a free agent and signing until 2027. He will wear the No. 24 jersey.

Wolfsburg sports director Sebastian Sinzilortz said: "We are very happy to seize this opportunity at the end of the transfer window. Eriksen is a player who has seen everything on the highest stage. His rich experience, outstanding skills and personal charm can especially bring valuable help to our young players. After captain Maximilian Arnold, he will become another key leader of the team."

Eriksen is 1.82 meters tall and has been active in the world football for more than ten years. As a Denmark international, he has played 144 times for the national team and scored 46 goals, and has participated in three World Cups and three European Cups. He had a sudden cardiac arrest in the first game of the 2021 European Cup, but he miraculously made a comeback in 2022 and regained the core of the Danish national team.

At the club level, Eriksen is also experienced. He has made 310 appearances in the Premier League (55 goals, 81 assists), and has also played 43 Serie A games and 53 Champions League games. His career began in Ajax in the 2009/10 season, and then played for Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Brentford and Manchester United. He has won three Eredivisie championships with Ajax (2011, 2012, 2013), won Serie A (2021) at Inter Milan, and won the League Cup (2023) and the FA Cup (2024) at Manchester United. In addition, he has been selected as Denmark Player of the Year many times.

Eriksen himself also expressed his expectations: "This is my first time playing in the Bundesliga, and I am very much looking forward to this new adventure. I believe we can achieve success together in Wolfsburg. The exchange with the club leader was very positive, and I immediately felt the clear plan of head coach Paul Simonis. There are many teammates from the Danish national team in the team, which is more attractive to me."
