TA: Jackson does not rule out staying in the team; Chelsea talks about Garnacho s progress faster than Simmons

Which position/player are you still focusing on?

Chelsea still hopes to sign a winger and an attacking midfielder before the transfer window closes, and their list of top players in each position is well known.

Garacho is the first choice for the right-footed left winger and can compete with Jamie Gittens, who signed in the summer. After Shezko's deal, Chelsea accelerated the negotiations and viewed the Argentine player's poor situation at Manchester United as an opportunity, but they are not inclined to just meet United's valuation of the player.

Garacho expects to join Chelsea himself and rule out all options other than transfer to Stamford Bridge or stay at Old Trafford.

Another issue of constant concern is Harvey Simmons. The club has already negotiated informally with Leipzig on the Dutch international’s transfer, but has not yet made a formal offer.

Chelsea are also optimistic about Aston Villa's Morgan Rodgers, believing that he may be suitable for an attacking midfielder.

Which players may leave?

Chelsea has made substantial progress in reducing the roster, but there is still more work to do for the rest of August.

Jackson and Nkunku missed Chelsea's pre-season friendly against Leverkusen and AC Milan, and they, their agents and the club are discussing possible transfers.

Chelsea senior sources said that if the transfer is not finally realized, Jackson will reintegrate into Maresca's roster after the deadline.

Chelsea is not in a hurry to sell him, but realizes that he may want to be a main striker in other clubs and that if the offer satisfies the parties, Chelsea is willing to approve the sale.

Nkunku is more likely to leave; he is willing to return to Leipzig, but has also attracted interest from other Bundesliga teams as well as Italian and Premier League clubs.
