According to the schedule, Real Madrid should play Osasuna on August 20, but they will only play the Club World Cup semi-finals in the United States this Wednesday and may compete in the final next Sunday. Real Madrid and the Association of Professional Football Players (AFE) have sent a letter to La Liga requesting a postponement of the game, which will consider the request.

This request is based on an agreement reached in May. At that time, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, La Liga, Spanish Football Association and AFE agreed that if the team enters the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup, its first round of the league will be postponed to ensure that the players have at least three weeks of pre-season preparation time.

In addition, under a collective agreement with the AFE, players are entitled to at least three weeks of continuous vacation, meaning it takes at least six weeks from the end of the season to the first game of the new season. Even if Real Madrid is out of the semi-finals, they will only have 40 days to rest and prepare for the game; if they enter the finals, the time will be shortened to 36 days. If the application is approved, Real Madrid's first game will be against Real Oviedo on August 25.

For comparison, Atletico Madrid was eliminated in the group stage of the Club World Cup, and there was no similar schedule conflict.
