Official announcement! Antonio s ten-year hammer road ends, West Ham s Premier League scorer Wang leaves the team
On August 7, the Premier League West Ham United Club officially confirmed that the forward Mikel Antonio, who has played for the team for ten years, has left the team after expiration of his contract. Antonio's departure stems from the fact that the club has not chosen to renew his contract after his contract expires this summer. Previously, Antonio suffered a serious car accident and was absent indefinitely. However, the players have now returned to the arena and represent the Jamaica national team in the Golden Cup. Antonio is the Premier League scorer in West Ham United's history. He scored 68 goals in 268 Premier League games he played for the team. The striker, who once played for Nottingham Forest, is loved by fans at the London Stadium. In 2023, he won the European Union championship with the "Hark Gang", ending the club's history of not having a championship for more than 40 years. West Ham United said in an official statement that discussions about Antonio's future continued participation in club affairs in other roles are still ongoing. Possible roles include positions that make their experience and leadership benefit others. The statement stressed that Antonio will always occupy a special position in the club's 130-year history. "All members of West Ham United sincerely thank Mikel for his outstanding contributions in wearing a wine-blue jersey in the past decade," the statement read. "More content paying tribute to his brilliant contributions will be released through official channels in the near future."
