In the 25th round of the Chinese League One, Guangxi Pingguo vs. Chongqing Tonglianglong, in the 50th minute of the game, Chongqing Tonglianglong player No. 16 fouled Guangxi Pingguo player No. 10 near the sideline. The latter fell to the ground after contact with off-site LED advertising display equipment and was later taken to the hospital by ambulance. The referee sentenced Chongqing Tonglianglong No. 16 for a foul and issued a yellow card warning, but VAR did not intervene.

The opinion of the Guangxi Pingguo Club’s appeal is that the opposing team member committed unsporting behavior that resulted in serious injury to one of the team’s players.

Regarding this case, most members of the review team believe that the foul committed by Chongqing Tonglianglong player No. 16 is a reckless foul and has not yet reached the level of a serious foul or violent act, so he should not be shown a red card. The injury to Guangxi Pingguo player No. 10 was accidental. The referee's decision to award Chongqing Tonglianglong No. 16 a foul and show him a yellow card was correct. In addition, we have learned from the relevant parties of the Chinese Football Association that the location of the LED advertising display equipment outside the game and the distance (3 meters) from the sideline of the competition venue are in line with the international standards for football events and the relevant regulations of the Chinese Football League.
