Multiple media: Crystal Palace Sports Medicine Director resigns and serves as Manchester United s new medical director
Hupu, August 23, reported the latest reports from multiple media outlets including TheAthleticUK that Manchester United will soon appoint Imtiaz Ahmad, director of sports medicine at Crystal Palace, as the club's medical service director. Ahmed is currently in Crystal Palace, completing his competitive period before his job-hopping, and will replace Gary O’Driscoll. O'Driscole moved to Old Trafford from Arsenal in September 2023, after he had served in the same position for six years. In March, TheAthletic reported that Odriscoll and first-team doctor Jim Moxon will leave Manchester United, which will reorganize the club's medical department. Moxon, who had played for Liverpool, was later hired as a men's first-team team physician by Brighton Medical Department. Odriscole remained in office during the transition period, while Manchester United is looking for a successor to ensure that the club's medical support services are not disrupted. Since Odriscole and Moxon transferred to Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos has taken over football operations, and the medical sector is one of many areas where the club has reformed. Ahmed's appointment is supervised by Manchester United's performance director Sam Eris, who has worked in the field of soccer medical for twenty years; initially served as a team doctor for the English Youth National Team, and later was appointed as a team doctor for the Millwall Club in 2008, where he worked for five years. Later, he served as a team physician for Tottenham Hotspur academy and later joined the Queen's Park Rangers, where he worked for seven years, holding multiple medical positions, including medical and performance directors. Ahmed joined Crystal Palace in 2024 for a similar position, but is now about to join Manchester United.
