Enrique: It is difficult to make a decision to replace the main goalkeeper, but I will not explain anything
. How do you evaluate his performance in these two games this season? In what else do you think he can do better?
For the team, I think this season is a good challenge for him, because he had a great year last year and I believe he can undoubtedly improve his performance. Although it takes a lot of courage to say that, I think he has this level. For us, he is a very important player. He is not only capable on the offensive end, but also excellent on the defensive end. I have always been very confident in him. I'm very happy and hope that he and the team will perform better this year.
Paris Saint-Germain scored two of the first three goals this season outside the penalty area, facing intensive defense at the time. Can it be said that this ability to score long-range shots is the team's new tactical weapon, which can be used to open up the opponent's defensive formation and create space?
This is one of the solutions you need to look for when facing intensive defense. This is normal. I think we have different choices when playing against teams with dense defense, and long-range shooting is one of them. I am very happy to have such ability.
We know that you are a practical and very pragmatic person. I want to talk about superstition. When preparing for the game, do you choose a player, for example, if you think that a player may be slightly weak but feel that he is better off playing? Or is a jersey like the blue jersey that made you win a lot of games last week, and you are more inclined to wear it? What do you think of these things? Will it take it seriously? Before the game, is superstitious about this aspect important to you?
No, I don't have any superstitious statements. I've never had it, I have nothing in this regard. I am proud of my work and superstition makes no sense to me. When I was a player, I might be a little superstitious, but I didn’t have it at all after being a coach. I don't care about these things, it's very simple for me, if a player performs very high in training, it's okay to get him on the court. This is my commitment to the players and to the team. Whether a player is worth playing has nothing to do with his value or nationality. I think this set is feasible and effective for me, and I will always do this.
Last week you mentioned the fullness of your mental state, which is very important to you. Now that it is the second game of this season, the team is still the European champion. As mentioned by my colleagues, the opponents will use intensive defense. What new things can you bring to this? Is it possible for substitutes to bring extra help, or are you planning to use the youth training camp to inject new elements and bring new changes?
As a coaching staff, all we can do is train around possible important aspects of the game. This is not just an offense against intensive defense, you have to have a system that attacks in the best way and effectively deal with oppression from your opponent after conceding the ball. There are many aspects we think can be improved. Every game is different, and every game has different solutions and situations that we need to deal with. We can probably predict some possible situations before the game, but after that you have to pay attention to the status of each player, because the player is not a machine, you have to see where the room for improvement is. It depends on the situation of each game. We are willing to be prepared at any time and be willing to analyze all of this. You can be prepared before the game, but the actual situation will always be different, and each game is different.
Season started, you have mentioned twice that you want to be different from last year. Can you explain what "change" specifically refers to? Compared to last year's situation, what changes do you want to make in the team?
It is not everything to change. Whether I plan to make a change or our team seeks change, these will not be made public. Because this is my job, the team's job, and the coaching team's job. But I think the practices that helped us win last year may still be effective this year, but we must be prepared to make the team unpredictable, present a new different look, and have more choices. It is precisely because of this that we keep making decisions and signing players. But these won't be talked about publicly because things don't work that way.
Since you started your coaching career and even your player career, you have been exposed to many different event broadcasters. There is now a new broadcaster in France called "Ligue 1+". What do you think of it? Have you learned about it? Like other coaches, are you willing to show the team's behind-the-scenes situation to such broadcasters and disclose more daily training life?
We have shown all. There is nothing to show again, that's all. That's all for display, and nothing else.
